Book Banks being established in state’s schools: Dr Dhan Singh Rawat

Dehradun, 12 Dec: Book Banks will be set up in schools and colleges by the Department of School Education to provide course-related books to incoming students. The construction work on selected PM-Shri and Cluster Schools across the state is being expedited. Additionally, officers will be promptly deployed through outsourcing to fill 955 vacant positions in CRPF-BRP. An outsourcing agency will also be chosen to fill vacant positions in the fourth category in various schools across the state.

Education Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat chaired a review meeting at the Directorate of School Education, here, today. He gave directions to department officials regarding the establishment of Book Banks in schools and colleges across the state. He stated that the decision to establish Book Banks in schools is aimed at overcoming the shortage of textbooks and ensuring timely availability to students. The schools concerned will voluntarily collect books ensuring that deposited books are made available to new students on time.

The minister highlighted that funds have been allocated by the government for the construction of selected PM-Shri Schools and Cluster Schools throughout the state. Officers have been given instructions to complete construction within the specified timeframe. Dr Rawat also stated that the final stage of the selection process for outsourcing agencies to fill 955 vacancies in CRPF-BRP is underway, and recruitment will commence upon agency selection. Similarly, outsourcing agencies will be chosen promptly to fill approximately 2500 vacancies in the fourth category in secondary schools across the state.

The meeting was attended by MLA, Rudraprayag, Bharat Chaudhary, MLA, Tharali, Bhupal Ram Tamta, Secretary Vijay Kumar Yadav, Additional Secretary, School Education, Yogendra Yadav, Director, SCERT, Vandana Garbyal, Director, Basic Education, RK Uniyal, Additional Director, Secondary Education (Headquarters) Mahavir Singh Bisht, APEO, Comprehensive Education, Dr Atul Sati, and Financial Controller Gulfam Ali, along with other departmental officials.
