CEO inspects polling stations in Dehradun, orders disposal of notices at BLO level

Dehradun, 4 Aug: Chief Electoral Officer Dr BVRC Purushottam today inspected several polling stations in various Assembly constituencies of Dehradun district and reviewed the hearing of notices issued under the SIR process. He also interacted with the voters at the centres to gather feedback.

During his visit, Purushottam inspected booth number 65 at Primary School, Dilaram Bazaar, in Rajpur constituency and booth number 10 at Primary School, Danda Khudanewala, in Raipur constituency. He said the purpose of the field visit was to understand practical issues arising at the ground level. He stated that all the Divisional Commissioners, all the District Magistrates and the EROs across the State have been directed to undertake similar field visits. It may be recalled that yesterday, he had toured Haridwar district and inspected several polling stations.

Purushottam instructed that notices involving minor discrepancies should be disposed of at the BLO level after verification of documents so that citizens are not subjected to unnecessary inconvenience. He emphasised that voters whose mapping has not been completed should be given special focus, with hearings conducted at the ERO/ AERO level in accordance with rules.

In line with his directions, officers of the CEO office have also been assigned responsibility for district visits and field inspections. Additional CEO Dr Vijay Kumar Jogdande has been entrusted with Dehradun and Haridwar, Joint CEO Prakash Chandra Dumka with Nainital, Almora, Champawat and Pithoragarh, Deputy CEO with Pauri, Rudraprayag, Chamoli and Bageshwar, while Assistant CEO Mastu Das has been given charge of Udham Singh Nagar, Tehri and Uttarkashi.

On this occasion, Chief Development Officer (CDO) Abhinav Shah, ERO, Raipur, Dr Apurva Singh, ERO, Rajpur, Tanveer Marwah and Assistant District Election Officer Narendra Devli were also present.
