Dehradun, 19 Jul: A CII delegation led by Suyash Agrawal, Vice Chairman, and Bipen Gupta, Past Chairman, CII Uttarakhand, along with CII Secretariat members, met Lok Sabha MP Trivendra Singh Rawat today to take forward the agenda of policy dialogue on issues pertaining to the state of the economy, industrial growth and development of Uttarakhand.
The delegation discussed several important issues pertaining to the development of infrastructure. It expressed the need for upgrading Dehradun Airport to international airport level, expediting expansion of Pantnagar Airport, expediting the Dehradun – Mussoorie Ropeway project, as also the multi- model logistics hub at Haridwar, setting up of sectoral industrial parks – Ayush, Defence, Electronics, Data Centres, Renewable Energy and wellness economic zone.
Bipen Gupta sought the support of the MP for resolving issues related to the Industrial Development Scheme, for honouring pending cases filed before 31 March 2022, and disbursement of subsidy.
Suyash Agrawal also advocated setting up of regional central board for workers’ education, Start-up Hub on the lines of T-Hub of Telangana, development of 2 new smart cities in the hills, one each in Kumaon and Garhwal, to reduce load on districts in the plains, development of Gairsain as mini metro city and setting up of institutions of national importance – National Institute of Design, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education & Research and Indian Institute of Food Processing Technology.
The delegation also requested a comprehensive study on the carrying capacity of each of the tourist destination/shrines and regulating tourism by enforcing pre-registration of visitors.
The MP was also requested to take up the suggestions related to the Central Government for the growth of the State. The suggestions were well received by the MP.
