Dehradun, 11 Sep: Following the state’s policy of providing government employment to the dependants of martyred soldiers, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has approved appointments for the family members of two martyrs from Uttarakhand. Kiran, wife of the late Jageendra Singh, is now being appointed to a Group ‘C’ post at the office of the District Magistrate, Tehri, while Abhishek Negi, brother of the late Adarsh Negi, is being appointed to a Group ‘C’ position in the office of the Superintending Engineer, Eighth Circle, Public Works Department (PWD), New Tehri.
It may be recalled that the state government has adopted a policy under which the dependants of martyred personnel from Uttarakhand, who served in the Indian Army and paramilitary forces, are eligible for compassionate appointments. The two persons for whom the CM has approved appointments in the government are the dependants of martyrs from Tehri district.
In an unrelated incident, the CM has also sanctioned an amount of Rs 12.3 crores for the widening of the Mitthi Beri to Parval via Chandni Chowk Road and the Parval to Vigyan Dham-Jhajra Road in the Sahaspur assembly constituency of Dehradun district. Under the state plan, internal roads within Vasant Vihar Society, located in the Cantonment assembly constituency of Dehradun, will be strengthened using BM SDBC, while damaged internal roads in Keshav Road, National Road, Shiv Colony, Dronpuri, Milan Vihar, Rajat Enclave, and Park Road, from Prem Nagar Chungi to Mohanpur Power House, will also see repairs, for which Rs 3.52 crore has been sanctioned by the administration.
In addition, Dhami also approved an amount of Rs 4.91 crores for the construction of new barracks on the first floor of Barracks 1, 2, and 6 at Haridwar District Jail, and an additional Rs 1 crore for a new women’s barrack at the same location.
In the health sector, too, the CM has sanctioned Rs 2.89 crores for the construction of a government building for the Government Ayurvedic Hospital Molyasera, Tehri, under the Department of Ayurvedic and Unani Services, and a further amount of Rs 2.5 crores for constructing government facilities at Government Ayurvedic Hospital Bangiyal, Tehri.
To ensure regular access to drinking water in semi-urban areas, the CM has given approval for the release of Rs 7 crores from the revenue fund and Rs 67 crores from the capital fund for the current financial year 2025-26 under the World Bank-funded Uttarakhand Drinking Water Programme.
