Dehradun, 29 Nov: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday reached the Community Health Centre, Chinyalisaur, to enquire about the condition of the workers rescued from the Silkyara Tunnel.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister presented cheques of Rs 1 lakh, each, to workers rescued from the tunnel. He also gave Rs 50,000, each, to the ‘rat miners’ who manually opened the way in the last round of the rescue operation.
Chief Minister Dhami enquired about the well-being of every worker admitted in the hospital. He obtained information from the doctors about the health and medical treatment of the workers. He also took stock of the facilities being provided to the workers. He appreciated the high morale of the workers.
While talking on mobile to the mother of Pushkar of Tanakpur, Champawat, one of the rescued workers, the CM briefed her on developments and said that the state government had fulfilled its promise by rescuing all the workers safely. Soon after their medical tests, Pushkar and other workers will be sent to their homes.
Dhami also met the families of the rescued workers. He attributed the courage and morale of the workers, and the patience of the family members as well as the tireless hard work of all the agencies and personnel involved in the rescue operation, as the basis for the success of the rescue.
The CM added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was constantly keeping an eye on the operation to safely rescue the trapped workers and was always concerned about their well-being. The unwavering faith shown by the family members as well as the public had played an important role in making this extremely complex, challenging and risky rescue operation successful.
The Chief Minister said, “Due to the tunnel accident, we all were not able to celebrate Diwali. Now, after all the workers have been safely rescued, Diwali will be celebrated with enthusiasm. The Chief Minister also invited the families of the workers to celebrate Diwali at his residence in Dehradun.
On this occasion, it was stated that all the workers were found healthy in the preliminary medical examination. As a precaution, these workers will be sent to the Higher Centre for advanced medical examination.
Commissioner, Garhwal Division, Vinay Shankar Pandey, District Magistrate Abhishek Ruhela, Director General, Information, Banshidhar Tiwari, Superintendent of Police Arpan Yaduvanshi and others were present on the occasion.
