Dehradun, 1 Nov: Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat flagged off a public awareness rally of secretariat officials for a polythene-free Green Dehradun at the Secretariat, here, on Friday. The Chief Minister said there was need for awareness on making a polythene free India. He added that the 50 km long human chain would be formed on 5 November to spread awareness on a plastic-free Dehradun. More than one lakh people would participate in this event. Rawat added that a huge tree planting campaign would be held on 16 July, 2020, on the occasion of Harela festival throughout the state. There was a need for public awareness on environmental protection and sanitation. The campaign, being run by the Municipal Corporation for a polythene-free Dehradun was getting very good results, he claimed. Public support was necessary to make Dehradun polythene-free.
