CM inaugurates India Drone Festival – 2019

DEHRADUN, 26 Feb: Chief Minister TS Rawat inaugurated the India Drone Festival – 2019 at the IT Park, here, today. With this, Uttarakhand became the first state in the country to organise such a festival. As many as 21 states are taking part.
Addressing the gathering, the CM said there were many uses of drones. They could be used for security purposes, surveys, disaster management, health, crowd control, maintenance of railway lines and irrigation canals, etc. He added that the nation’s first Drone Application Training Centre and Research Laboratory had been established in Doon. He praised the efforts of the former Chairman of NTRO, Alok Joshi, in this regard. He said that the Uttarakhand Defence Manufacturing and Supply Association had also been formed in Dehradun.
He also highlighted the need for the involvement of youth in such programmes, which was why they were being invited to all such occasions. He also disclosed that the ‘Youth Uttarakhand – Towards Employment and Entrepreneurship’ function would be held at the Parade Ground on 6 March. Thousands of students would take part.
MLA Ganesh Joshi highlighted the many ways drones have been used in Uttarakhand. Also present on the occasion were Surveyor General Lt General Girish Kumar, Director, HAL, DS Chamola, Secretary, IT, RK Sudhanshu, Secretary, Finance, Amit Negi, DGP Ashok Kumar, ITDA Director Amit Sinha, Group Captain Rajat Dwivedi, etc.
