Dehradun, 19 Aug: A supplementary budget exceeding Rs. 5,315 crore was tabled in the Uttarakhand Assembly today on the first day of the ongoing Monsoon Session. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami presented the budget before the House, following which the Assembly proceedings were adjourned until 11 am tomorrow. In addition, 8 other bills were also tabled in the House today. During the tabling of the Demands on Grants and of the other bills, the Opposition continued to create ruckus, forcing immediate adjournment of the House after the supplementary budget was tabled. This is first time in the current financial year that the supplementary budget (demands on grants) has been tabled.
Prior to the adjournment, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Subodh Uniyal, accompanied by other ministers, introduced 8 legislative bills for consideration. These include the Uttarakhand Appropriation (Supplementary) Bill 2025 for the financial year 2025–26, the Uttarakhand Uttar Pradesh Badrinath and Kedarnath Temples Act 1939 (Amendment) Bill 2025, the Uttarakhand Freedom of Religion and Prohibition of Unlawful Practices (Amendment) Bill 2025, the Uttarakhand Private Universities (Amendment) Bill 2025, the Uttarakhand Witness Protection (Repeal) Bill 2025, the Uttarakhand Minority Education Bill 2025, the Uttarakhand Uniform Civil Code (Amendment) Bill 2025, the Uttarakhand Panchayati Raj (Amendment) Bill 2025, and the Uttarakhand Democracy Fighters’ Honour Bill 2025.
It may be reminded here that some of these bills including the amendment bill on freedom of religion and the UCC were approved by the Cabinet on Sunday only.
