Dehradun/Rudrapur, 28 Aug: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has taken a firm stand on the alleged inflammatory speech delivered during the Julus‑e‑Mohammadi procession at Trishul Chowk. Speaking to the media at Lohiyahed helipad in Khatima before leaving for Champawat this morning, he said that Uttarakhand is governed by the rule of law and strict action will be taken against those indulging in provocative speeches in accordance with legal provisions.
He stated that the speech at Trishul Chowk was not merely a routine speech by one particular person but it reflects an ideology behind the speech which disregards the Constitution and thrives on encroachment. He emphasised that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, governance has been firmly established on the foundation of law and order, and anyone delivering such inflammatory speeches will face legal consequences. The administration is actively tracing the person responsible.
The CM also reiterated the government’s campaign against encroachment, noting that nearly 13,000 acres of land have so far been freed from illegal occupation. Extending greetings on Raksha Bandhan, he highlighted the empowerment of women through various government schemes and reservations.
It may be recalled that tensions had arisen over an alleged provocative speech delivered during the Julus-e-Mohammadi procession at Trishul Chowk in Rudrapur, with a video of the purported speech subsequently circulating on social media. The remarks, attributed to a speaker identified as Mufti Mujeeb of Rampur, reportedly contained references to the State Government’s action against madrasas and encroachment. What appears on social media appears to be threatening in nature. The video has triggered strong objections, following which the police have taken cognisance of the matter and have registered a case. In addition, efforts are being made to identify and trace the person who allegedly delivered the speech. The organisers of the procession, however, have questioned the authenticity of the circulating video, with Julus committee manager Dr Shahid Raza claiming that the video had been digitally or AI-manipulated and maintaining that the procession was organised to convey a message of peace and brotherhood.
