Dehradun, 28 Aug: BJP has levelled serious allegations against the Congress, accusing the party of attempting to vitiate the atmosphere of Uttarakhand by creating false caste divisions in connection with the Haldwani episode. The BJP State General Secretary Kundan Parihar today claimed that the Congress is deliberately trying to damage the image of Devbhoomi by manufacturing baseless narratives of caste animosity. Parihar added that while Congress may unnecessarily drag its national president into such false narratives, levelling fabricated charges against the BJP state president is intolerable. He added that the BJP workers have expressed strong resentment over the Congress trying to drag the name of BJP State President Mahendra Bhatt into this narrative.
Parihar said that the complaints filed by Congress against the BJP state president and the party are entirely unfounded and nothing more than a stunt to grab media headlines. He clarified that when no incident of caste insult or such occurrence ever took place, Congress attempting to tarnish the image of Devbhoomi for petty political gains is deeply shameful.
Parihar further said that having lost two consecutive elections, Congress has now descended to the divisive agenda reminiscent of 1937. He emphasised that Uttarakhand has never witnessed an atmosphere of caste discrimination or animosity, nor has such a perception existed among the people of the state. He claimed that with a third defeat looming large, Congress is now conspiring to divide society along caste lines without caring for the state’s image.
The BJP state general secretary also criticised Congress for stooping so low that it has even involved its own national president in this false and anti‑social narrative. He added that dragging BJP state president Mahendra Bhatt into this controversy without reason has caused deep anger among party workers.
He reiterated that the people of Uttarakhand clearly understand this politics of division and distortion. With the support and cooperation of the state’s citizens, BJP will ensure that no such Congress conspiracy succeeds in damaging Uttarakhand’s atmosphere and reputation.
