Dehradun, 26 Oct: BJP today targeted Congress for opposing the inauguration and consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that Congress does not have any moral basis for opposing it. In a statement issued, today, BJP State President Mahendra Bhatt stated that those who always opposed the Ram Temple had no moral right to object to the Sanatan flag bearer Modi being a part of this programme.
He was reacting to the inauguration of Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya proposed for 22 January in 2024. Bhatt described the event as the fulfilment of the 500 years old dream of more than a billion Sanatani people. He said that after the martyrdom of lakhs of Ram devotees, that glorious moment has finally come when Lord Ram, the pinnacle of Indian culture, will be available to give darshan to the devotees in his birthplace. This development is an occasion for great joy in the country as well as in Uttarakhand.
Showing a mirror to the Congress leaders in this regard, he said that these same people used to stand day and night in favour of the disputed Babri Masjid in the Supreme Court and used to make fun of BJP for not telling the date of construction of Ram Temple. He also reminded that the then Congress Government had submitted an affidavit in the court claiming that Lord Ram was imaginary and they made every possible effort to oppose the Ram Temple in Ayodhya and get the judgement in the Ram Temple case delayed as far as possible. Even after the decision in favour of Ram Janmabhoomi, the top leaders of Congress never bothered to visit Ayodhya.
Bhatt taunted that those who once considered the slogan of Jai Shri Ram as communal, now do not even accept the divinity and grandeur of the Ram temple. He added that the people of the state and the country are understanding the intentions of the opposition and will definitely teach a lesson to all these opportunistic Hindus opposing the PM when the time comes.
