Cong indulging in politics over dues to farmers in U’khand: Manveer Chauhan

Dehradun 13 May: BJP’s State Media in charge Manveer Chauhan today accused Congress of paying sugarcane politics. In a statement issued today, Chauhan claimed that on one hand, veteran Congress leader Harish Rawat has praised Chief Minister Dhami for issuing orders to the officials concerned to ensure immediate payment of dues to sugarcane farmers, but on the other Pradesh Congress Chief Karan Mahara is threatening to launch an agitation over the issue. This was surprising, claimed Chauhan.
Chauhan claimed that the BJP government is continuously working for the welfare of the farmers. In this sequence, on the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, dues of sugarcane farmers to the tune of Rs 23 crore have already been paid to them, while another Rs 108 crore are also to be paid soon. He said that this year, more than 26 lakh quintals of sugarcane was crushed by the cooperative sugar mills in the state.  Under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, in addition to the transfer of Rs 1767 crore in the accounts of 9 lakh farmers of the state, many schemes for the welfare of farmers are being run in the state. Farmers are also being given interest-free loans up to 3 lakh each and up to 80 percent subsidy on the purchase of agricultural equipment under the Farm Machinery Bank Scheme, Rs 20 bonus per quintal is also being given to farmers at the time of procurement of wheat, 4485 clusters of organic agriculture are being operated. Similarly, on the lines of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, CM Kisan Protsahan Nidhi will also be started soon. With the inclusion of Jhangora and Mandua in the Public Distribution System and Midday Meal Scheme, the income of the farmers is sure to increase.
Taking a jibe at the Congress over the threat of agitation, Chauhan said, senior Congress leader and former CM Harish Rawat, sitting on dharna, had also praised Chief Minister Dhami for his prompt action in issuing orders for immediate payment of dues but some Congress leaders were still playing politics over the issued and threatening to launch an agitation in this matter. It looks that internal politics in Congress was the reason of this duality, he asserted.
