Dehradun, 25 Jun: BJP has strongly countered the allegations levelled by Congress over the NEET examination, terming them politically motivated and detrimental to the interests of students. During an informal interaction with the media persons here, today, BJP State president and Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt alleged that Congress is indulging in petty politics at the cost of the future of young people. He asserted that the youth of Uttarakhand are aware and discerning, and that they have full faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Bhatt claimed that the youth in Uttarakhand are refusing to be misled by the falsehoods and propaganda brought from the Opposition in Delhi.
In response to a question, Bhatt criticised Rahul Gandhi, alleging that Gandhi has no concern for the future of students and is merely attempting to politicise a sensitive issue to regain lost ground. He pointed to the Bengaluru rally controversy, noting that on 21 June, the day of the NEET re‑examination, Congress had organised a massive rally that caused severe traffic jams, resulting in several students missing their examination. He said this incident once again proved that Congress prioritises its political programmes over the future of the nation’s youth.
Bhatt also claimed that while Congress leaders are attempting to mislead Uttarakhand’s youth, the younger generation remains confident in the policies and intentions of Modi and Dhami. He said that Congress is frustrated and disheartened by the smooth conduct of the NEET re‑examination. He contrasted the approaches of the two parties, stating that Modi once waited for 45 minutes at an airport to ensure NEET candidates did not face inconvenience, whereas Congress did not even consider cancelling its rally on the day of the examination. He emphasised that the BJP government is committed to transparent systems and the bright future of students, evident in the impartial and organised examination process conducted jointly by the Centre and the state. He added that Dhami has implemented the strictest anti‑cheating law, uprooting the entrenched mafia that thrived during Congress rule.
Bhatt further accused Congress governments of being the origin of paper leaks and protectors of cheating mafias. Referring to Rajasthan, he said repeated cancellations and leaks during the previous Congress regime are recorded in history. He described Congress as the ‘mother of paper leaks’ and declared that the party has no moral right to speak on the subject. Congress has always played with the future of youth, and its pretence of concern over NEET is nothing more than crocodile tears, with its true face now fully exposed, Bhatt asserted.
