Roorkee, 4 Aug: Congress MLA Furkan Ahmad’s son Salman has been accused of creating a disturbance and misbehaving with staff at the Rampur Nagar Panchayat office here today. Executive Officer of the Nagar Panchayat, Rohit Panwar today lodged a written complaint with Gangnahar Police Station, alleging obstruction of official work, abusive behaviour and issuing threats.
According to the complaint, Salman arrived at the office yesterday afternoon and insisted that his work be done immediately, leading to an altercation with the officials. Panwar alleged that Salman used abusive language, threatened staff and disrupted government functioning, causing work to halt temporarily. The officer also claimed that the incident created fear among the employees, particularly as the office was crowded with visitors due to the ongoing SIR process.
The administration claimed the episode has been captured on CCTV cameras and a mobile video has also surfaced showing the altercation. Panwar has demanded impartial investigation and legal action against the accused. Police confirmed receipt of the complaint and stated that inquiry is underway. SP (Rural) Shekhar Chandra Suyal said all aspects of the matter are being examined and action would follow based on findings. No FIR has yet been registered.
Attempts to contact MLA Furkan Ahmad for his version were unsuccessful as he did not pick up the calls. So far there has been no official statement from the MLA or his son Salman over the incident.
