CM conducts surprise inspection of Rishikesh Transit camp

Garhwal Post Bureau

Rishikesh, 3 Jun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today conducted a surprise inspection of the transit camp at Rishikesh to review the arrangements for the ongoing Char Dham Yatra and the registration process. On this occasion, he examined the facilities for registration, health check‑ups and accommodation and also interacted with a large number of pilgrims from other states to gather feedback on the arrangements.

Dhami reviewed the registration system at the camp and directed the officials to ensure that pilgrims do not face delays in completing the process. He also inspected the health check‑up centres and emphasised the need for special attention to the well‑being of the pilgrims. While inspecting the accommodation facilities there, he instructed that additional coolers be installed in view of rising temperatures and that drinking water and other essential amenities be also made available in sufficient quantity.

The CM directed the officials to ensure effective crowd management and also stressed that the safety and convenience of pilgrims be considered the highest priority. He also interacted with the officers and staff working at the camp and advised them to take care of their own health also while welcoming pilgrims with the spirit of ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ and resolving their concerns promptly.

During the inspection, Dhami spoke directly with the pilgrims present at the camp and sought their feedback. Travellers from Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar praised the arrangements made for the Char Dham Yatra and they described the registration, health check‑ups, accommodation and other facilities as satisfactory. Several elderly pilgrims met the CM and offered blessings and expressed gratitude for the smooth and organised conduct of the pilgrimage. Dhami enquired about their well‑being and wished them a safe and pleasant journey.

The pilgrims also appreciated the religious and cultural atmosphere created at the transit camp, where LED screens broadcast episodes from the Ramayana and Mahabharata. Kamini from Uttar Pradesh said she had completed her registration in the morning and is waiting at the camp before beginning her Char Dham Yatra tomorrow. She noted that the coolers, fans and water are adequately arranged and that watching the Ramayana on television made her waiting time enjoyable. Shubham from Azamgarh, who returned from the Yatra with three friends, said they had started their journey from the same camp and found the facilities so satisfactory that they chose to stay there again on their return. Om Prakash from Madhya Pradesh shared that he had arrived in the morning, taken his meal and undergone a health check‑up at the camp, and commended the state government’s efforts.

It may be reminded here that the camp also hosts continuous ‘langar’ services, providing free food and water to the pilgrims. Volunteers serve meals while women from self‑help groups (SHGs) sell local products within the premises. These stalls offer handicrafts, traditional items and goods linked to self‑employment, giving women opportunities for economic empowerment while promoting local products.
