Dehradun, 5 Aug: Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan today reviewed the progress of externally aided projects and took detailed stock of the completed, ongoing and proposed works. During the meeting, he also issued directions for their effective implementation. He emphasised that the focus under these projects should remain on strengthening infrastructure development across the state.
Bardhan also directed that closure reports of completed projects be mandatorily submitted to the funding agency, the Department of Economic Affairs in the Ministry of Finance, Government of India, and to the respective line departments of the Union Government. He further stressed that the projects moving at a slow pace should be closely monitored and that necessary corrective steps taken to pace up such projects. To ensure timely completion, he also directed augmentation of manpower and the machinery along with all other required measures.
Besides this, the CS directed the Energy Department to prepare proposals for underground electricity line projects in Mussoorie and Nainital. He also stressed on expediting the Uttarakhand Integrated Horticulture Project by establishing a dedicated Project Management Unit, adding that a dedicated PMO and continuous monitoring would help achieve timely completion.
In the education sector, particularly technical education, he stressed upon the need to strengthen systems and improve infrastructure in engineering colleges, polytechnics and ITIs. He said externally aided projects should be prepared for this purpose. He further emphasised on the importance of focusing on river rejuvenation, animal husbandry, dairy and fisheries, along with solid waste management projects.
Among those present on the occasion were Principal Secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretaries Nitesh Kumar Jha, Dilip Jawalkar, Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Ranjit Kumar Sinha, Ranjit Singh Chauhan and Vinod Kumar Suman, Additional Secretaries Vineet Kumar and Himanshu Khurana besides other senior officials.
