Dehradun, 31 Jan: The 38th edition of the National Games 2025 has been nothing short of spectacular, with athletes delivering breathtaking performances and setting new benchmarks. The competition has witnessed several recordbreaking moments, captivating sports enthusiasts nationwide. On the event’s third day, weightlifting, rugby sevens, badminton, and wushu saw intense battles, with athletes pushing their limits to secure top honors.
One of the most talked-about moments of the games so far has been Bindyarani Devi’s phenomenal performance in weightlifting. Competing in the women’s 55 kg weight class, she broke the national record in the snatch category with an 88 kg lift, surpassing the previous record set by Olympic medalist Mirabai Chanu. Bindyarani’s total lift of 201 kg secured her the gold medal for Manipur.
Her remarkable achievement has drawn admiration from across the sporting community, as breaking a record set by a legend like Mirabai Chanu is no small feat. With her eyes set on bigger international tournaments, Bindyarani’s performance at the National Games serves as a stepping stone toward greater success.
Rugby Sevens continued to deliver high-octane action, with Odisha’s women’s team clinching the gold medal dominantly. They overpowered Bihar with a 29-5 victory in the final, displaying exceptional teamwork and skill. Meanwhile, Maharashtra claimed the bronze medal after a closely contested 17-10 win against Delhi in the playoff match.
Haryana men’s rugby team has won the 38th National Games title, defeating Maharashtra 22-7 in the
final! Their impressive performance highlighted their skill, determination, and teamwork, earning
them the gold medal.

In the men’s competition, Haryana proved their mettle by defeating Maharashtra 22-7 in the final to win the gold medal. The bronze medal match saw Odisha pull off a 26-10 comeback victory against West Bengal, further solidifying their status as a formidable force in Indian rugby. The rapid growth of rugby in India was evident in the intense matches, with teams from different states giving their all to claim the top spots.

The badminton women’s team event has reached its final stage, with Haryana and Uttarakhand set to battle for the gold medal. Haryana secured their place in the final after defeating Gujarat 3-1, with Gujarat’s Tasnim Mir earning the only win for her team.

The Odisha Women’s Rugby Team has emerged as Golden Champions at the 38th National Games,
triumphing over Bihar with a score of 29-5 in an exciting final! Their impressive performance
highlights their strength, teamwork, and commitment on the national stage.

Similarly, Uttarakhand overcame Assam 3-1 in their semifinal clash, with Assam’s Isharani Baruah securing their lone victory. With two strong teams set to face off in the final, fans are eagerly awaiting an intense showdown to determine the ultimate champion.

Wushu athletes also put on a brilliant display of skill and discipline. Services’ Anjul Namdeo won the gold medal in the men’s Jianshu (Taolu) event, while Harshit Sharma from Uttarakhand took silver and Chhattisgarh’s Davnam Parth secured bronze. In the women’s category, Arunachal Pradesh’s Mercy Ngaimong emerged victorious, claiming the gold medal, followed by Delhi’s Bhumi with silver, and Uttarakhand’s Ankita, who took home the bronze.
The 2025 National Games has already delivered unforgettable moments, and with each passing day, the competition is growing tougher. Athletes are pushing their limits, breaking records, and delivering fierce performances, making this edition of the National Games one of the most exciting in history.
