Dehradun, 25 August: The Government of India has extended the deadline for completing the remaining works of PMGSY-1 and PMGSY-2 in Uttarakhand till March 2025 due to the state’s challenging geographical conditions, heavy rainfall in mountainous regions, natural disasters, and continuous landslides.

State Rural Development Minister Ganesh Joshi has expressed gratitude in this regard to the Union Rural Development Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, on behalf of the state’s residents. Joshi also thanked Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for raising this issue with the Union Minister.

Minister Joshi stated that during his meeting with  Chouhan in Delhi in June, he requested an additional six months to complete the remaining works on 94 PMGSY-1 roads and 3 PMGSY-2 roads due to Uttarakhand’s difficult terrain. Accepting this request, the Ministry of Rural Development has now extended the deadline till March 2025 for completing the remaining works of PMGSY-1 and PMGSY-2. Joshi noted that this extension would prevent an expenditure burden of Rs 273 crore on the state government. He also expressed appreciation for Dhami’s efforts and hoped for continued support from the central government for various development schemes in Uttarakhand. He assured that the state would make every effort to complete all remaining works within the extended timeframe.
