DEHRASUN, 26 Jun: A delegation of 50 students from India’s premier educational institutions — including IITs, IIMs, NLUs, and Central Universities — met Director General of Police, Uttarakhand, Deepam Seth today at Sardar Patel Bhawan, Dehradun, as part of Student Parliament India’s National Governance Tour.
On this occasion, an open house dialogue session was organized, focusing on “Strengthening Public Safety through Law Enforcement and Community Policing”.
The purpose of this session was to provide future leaders of the nation with first-hand insights into the functioning of the police and administrative systems, contemporary security challenges, and technological innovations.
During the event, Superintendent of Police, Vigilance, Rachita Juyal delivered a concise and impactful presentation detailing the working, organizational structure, mission, vision, and key initiatives of the Uttarakhand Police — a presentation that was highly appreciated by all participants.
Following this, CO Cyber Cell, Ankush Mishra conducted an insightful session on emerging trends in cybercrime, including the dark web, phishing, digital fraud, and the innovative measures and technological advancements adopted by Uttarakhand Police to combat cybercrimes. He also discussed the police’s cyber helpline, training programs, and cyber awareness initiatives conducted at school and college levels.
The students enthusiastically raised numerous questions on various topics, which were answered in detail by the DGP and other police officials. The session was vibrant and thought-provoking, with the students’ curiosity and eagerness to learn adding great value to the interaction.
The delegation commended the transparent, technology-enabled, and community-participation-based working style of Uttarakhand Police. They especially appreciated the sustained efforts made by the police in ensuring the safety, service, and trust of the public in a geographically challenging state like Uttarakhand.
Addressing the youth, DGP Deepam Seth said: “By engaging directly with the working of governance and administration, youth gain not only learning but also an opportunity to think about how they can meaningfully contribute to society. Uttarakhand Police views dialogue and collaboration with young people as the foundation of a secure and empowered future.”
The interaction proved to be highly useful, informative, and inspiring for participants, providing them an opportunity to understand and connect with one of the most vital pillars of governance — the police service.
Present at the session were IG Telecommunications – Krishan Kumar VK; SSP STF – Navneet Singh; SP Security – Manjunath TC; DySP Cyber – Ankush Mishra; and DySP Crime – Ashish Bhardwaj amongst others.
