Cabinet Minister Joshi addresses ‘Student Parliament’

Garhwal Post Bureau

Dehradun, 26 Jun: State Cabinet Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Sainik Welfare, and Rural Development, Ganesh Joshi, while addressing a ‘Student Parliament’ programme organised by Zero Hour Foundation, today, said that when the youth of India begin to take an active interest in the nation’s policies, governance systems, and social development, the direction and destiny of the country will start to change. He urged the students to take back from Uttarakhand not just memories, but a perspective—an understanding that policy, governance, and innovation are not just concepts confined to books, but essential at the grassroots level.

On Thursday, Minister Joshi addressed talented students participating in the National Governance Tour organised by Student Parliament India at a private hotel in Dehradun. Brilliant students from leading institutions and prestigious universities across the country are part of this tour, which aims to give the youth a deep understanding of policymaking, governance, and democratic values.

The Minister said that Uttarakhand, being a mountainous state, presents geographical challenges, agricultural difficulties, and limited employment opportunities that inspire creative and practical solutions. He emphasised that agriculture is not merely the concern of farmers, but the foundation of the nation’s self-reliance, and under the leadership of Chief Minister Dhami, the state government is working to make hill agriculture organic, technology-driven, and market-oriented. Highlighting the importance of skill development, he said that it is not just a means to seek jobs, but to create opportunities to provide employment to others. He called upon the youth to become job-givers rather than job-seekers. Stressing the importance of rural development, he said that the strength of India lies in its villages and that the future of India resides not in its cities, but in its villages.

On this occasion, Kunal Thakur, Manas Tiwari, Shashank Shekhar Tiwari, Vidhi Sharma, and others from Zero Hour Foundation were also present.
