LALKUAN (NAINITAL), 7 Jun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday, inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 27 development projects in Nainital district, collectively valued at approximately Rs 126.69 crore, at a function held in Lalkuan. These projects encompass schemes related to education, roads, healthcare, irrigation, sewerage, urban development, beautification, and the protection of stray cattle. Specifically, nine schemes worth Rs 25.93 crore were inaugurated, while the foundation stones for 18 schemes costing Rs 100.76 crore were laid.
In his address, Dhami asserted that these projects would strengthen the region‘s basic infrastructure and provide better facilities to citizens. He lauded the nationwide development initiatives under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, asserting that India is now leading in every sector, including defence, science, sports, and infrastructure. He also mentioned the country’s changing power and resolve by mentioning ‘Operation Sindoor’, the abrogation of Article 370, and the construction of a rail bridge in Kashmir Valley.
Dhami further stated that projects such as a mental hospital, cancer institute, Ayush hospital, open gyms, Ambedkar Park, ring road, bypass road, astro park, pollinator park, and a sports university are being swiftly implemented to make Nainital district an ideal district. For making Haldwani a ‘Clean and Green City’, waste management and sewerage management schemes have been initiated, while multi-story parking facilities are being constructed to alleviate traffic congestion. Efforts like the Jamrani Multipurpose Dam Project and an Industrial Smart City in Khurpia would provide long-term benefits to the Terai region.
The Chief Minister also emphasised that the state government is fully committed not only to development but also to protecting cultural identity and social harmony. He mentioned that stringent measures have been taken against religious conversions, ‘love jihad’, and ‘land jihad’. He proudly stated that Uttarakhand is the first state in the country to implement a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and has also enforced the nation’s strictest anti-copying law. Concrete efforts are also being made for cow protection under the “Gau Sanrakshan Kanoon.”
Dhami claimed that the state government has adopted a ‘zero tolerance’ policy against corruption, and over 200 corrupt individuals have been sent to jail in the last three years. He appealed to the public to become active participants in the journey of development to make Uttarakhand a leading state in the country.
Among the schemes inaugurated were the reconstruction of 11 damaged canals in Okhalkanda, the District Ayurvedic Building in Bhimtal, the Malla Sufi-Rusani-Deegarh-Kafuwa Lodhia motor road in Ramgarh, the Malli Sethi lift irrigation scheme in Betalghat, vehicle parking and OT construction for animals at the Veterinary Hospital in Haldwani, the Veterinary Hospital building in Kaladungi, Gaushala (cow shelter) construction (Phase-1) in Gangapur Kabdwal, the State Polytechnic building in Ramnagar, and the renovation of the rehabilitation center in Pande Nawad, Haldwani.
The schemes for which foundation stones were laid include flood protection work at Indira Gandhi Sports Complex, construction of damaged canals in Fatehpur, Kamalwaganja, Gunipur, Paniali, and Bachhinagar, the Polytechnic building in Kotabagh, tubewell construction in Rampur Chakalua, development of Kainchi Dham complex, repair of tourist accommodation in Bhawali, construction of tourism office building in Nainital, reconstruction and improvement of rural motor roads, development of Jhirapani Waterfall, tubewell construction at various locations, Rajpura and Parvati Mohalla sewerage schemes in Haldwani, Gaushala construction (Phase-2) in Lalkuan, and the renovation of the library at Government Girls Inter College, Haldwani.
Also present on the occasion included Nainital MP Ajay Bhatt, MLAs Banshidhar Bhagat, Mohan Singh Bisht, and Ramsingh Kaida, Mayor Gajraj Bisht, Lal Batti holders Anil Kapoor Dabbu, Renu Adhikari, Dinesh Arya, Deepak Mehra, Suresh Bhatt, Shankar Koranga, District President Pratap Bisht, Pan Singh Mewari, Ranjan Bargali, Kamlesh Kabdwal, Milk Union President Mukesh Bora, former MLA Naveen Dumka, along with public representatives, officials, and a large number of local residents. Also present were Commissioner Deepak Rawat, DIG Ridhima Agarwal, District Magistrate Vandana Singh, SSP PN Meena, Additional District Magistrate Vivek Roy, and Municipal Commissioner Richa Singh.
