Almora, 21 Jun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today visited the Pandekhola residence of Lieutenant Beereshwar Goswami, the officer of 5 Assam Regiment who attained martyrdom during an anti‑terror operation in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir. recently. On this occasion, the CM offered floral tributes before the portrait of the officer and conveyed deep condolences to the bereaved family. He assured them that the entire state stands firmly with them in this hour of grief and urged them to maintain courage and fortitude.
Dhami said the supreme sacrifice made by Lt Goswami in the defence of the nation will always be remembered and that it will serve as an inspiration for the generations to come. He added that those who lay down their lives for the country achieve immortality and remain forever in the nation’s memory.
The CM also announced that a grand gate will be constructed in Almora in the name of Lt Goswami, and that his memory will be kept alive in other developmental works so that the youth draw inspiration from his valour. He assured that the state government will extend all possible assistance to the martyr’s family and ensure that no requirement is left unmet. Dhami emphasised that the government stands strongly with the family and will take care of their needs.
It may be recalled that Lt Beereshwar Goswami, an officer of the Assam Regiment, had displayed exemplary courage while performing his duties in Rajouri and made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of the duty. His mortal remains were brought to his home district Almora with full military and state honours, where thousands of people gathered to bid him a final farewell.
