Pauri Garhwal, 21 Jun: During a one-day regional tour of the Pabau and Paithani Mandals in the Srinagar Assembly constituency, Uttarakhand Cabinet Minister and local MLA, Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, inaugurated and laid foundation stones for several development projects, providing significant infrastructure and public service benefits to the region. The extensive tour, which continued from morning until late evening, witnessed the launch of several ambitious projects related to roads, education, healthcare, and tourism.

As part of his visit, Dr Rawat formally laid the foundation stone for the construction of a motor road connecting the Boonga-Simalth Motor Road to Primary School Boonga in Pabau Block. The road will improve transportation facilities for local residents, students, and school staff. This long-pending demand of the area is expected to strengthen rural connectivity and contribute significantly to social and economic development. Residents expressed their happiness and gratitude for the project.

Subsequently, Dr Rawat inaugurated a newly constructed building at Sanskrit Vidyalaya Odlinanda, built at a cost of Rs 34.74 lakh. The facility will provide improved educational infrastructure for students and teachers. Speaking on the occasion, he emphasised that Sanskrit is the foundation of India’s cultural and intellectual heritage and that a quality educational environment is essential for its preservation and promotion. The school community and local residents welcomed the minister and thanked him for supporting educational development.

During the tour, the Cabinet Minister also performed the ground-breaking ceremony and foundation stone laying for a Health Sub-Centre in Palli village of Thalisain Block. The project, costing approximately Rs 55.50 lakh, will make primary healthcare services more accessible to rural residents and reduce their dependence on distant medical facilities. The initiative is expected to significantly strengthen rural healthcare infrastructure.

Dr Rawat also laid the foundation stone for the Hinwalidhar–Sirtoli Motor Road Project. Approved at a cost of Rs 737.03 lakh and spanning 6.4 kilometres, the road is expected to become a milestone in improving regional connectivity. It will provide easier access to education, healthcare, and other essential services while accelerating social and economic development in the area.

Social worker Harish Pant stated that the fulfilment of the villagers’ long-standing demand for the road has created an atmosphere of happiness throughout the region, and residents are grateful to Dr Dhan Singh Rawat for his efforts.

During the visit, local residents also submitted proposals regarding the extension of the motor road from Sirtoli to Tara Kund and the beautification and development of the Tara Kund Temple. In response, Dr Rawat assured the public that before 10 July 2026, he would personally conduct a site inspection of Tara Kund and hold a meeting with representatives of all village councils and local residents to formulate a roadmap for road expansion and tourism development.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Dhan Singh Rawat said that the comprehensive and balanced development of the Srinagar Assembly constituency remains his highest priority. He emphasised that the government’s objective is to connect every village with better roads, healthcare, education, and basic infrastructure, as a strong road network is the backbone of the rural economy.

He further stated that a comprehensive plan is being prepared to develop the entire region as a tourism and pilgrimage circuit. Important religious and natural destinations such as Tara Kund and Bhairav Khal will be linked through improved road connectivity, thereby promoting religious tourism. This initiative is expected to generate new employment opportunities for local youth and strengthen the rural economy.

He added that the state government remains fully committed to public welfare and regional development and will strive to complete development projects in a timely manner to meet the expectations of the people.
