Dhami praises spiritual legacy of Lal Das Maharaj

Haridwar, 4 Aug: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attended a solemn function held at Brahma Niwas Ashram, situated on Saptasarovar Road in Bhupatwala here, today, to commemorate the 50th Nirvan Diwas of Satguru Lal Das Maharaj. Addressing the gathering, the CM paid homage to Lal Das Maharaj and highlighted his lifelong dedication to spirituality, noting how his inspiring teachings were firmly grounded in service, truth and devotion.

Dhami observed that Guru Lal Das Maharaj brought the true spirit of devotion to the common people, and his words possessed a deep spiritual influence. Drawing a parallel with the compassion exemplified by Lord Buddha, he claimed that the vision of Lal Das Maharaj embodied boundless empathy and consistently worked to foster unity within society. Throughout his life, the spiritual leader emphasised that selfless service represented the highest ideal of religion.

Speaking about the national revival of cultural pride, the CM claimed that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sanatan culture is attaining growing prominence on the international stage. He underlined how people globally are showing increased interest in India’s ancient traditions and philosophical riches. He further claimed that the state government, guided by the PM Modi, remains fully dedicated to preserving and promoting the hallowed cultural heritage of the state. Mentioning forthcoming initiatives, the CM announced that a Rishikesh-Haridwar Corridor has been proposed, which, when completed, shall visually and spiritually transform Haridwar, akin to the splendour experienced in Kashi and Ayodhya.

Dhami reiterated the state government’s unwavering pledge to safeguard Uttarakhand’s cultural values and demographic character. He mentioned that robust measures have been undertaken against divisive ideologies, including the enforcement of a strict anti-conversion law within the state. He also reminded that in order to ensure social justice and equal rights for all citizens, Uttarakhand has also become the first state in India to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC).

Speaking on the subject of religious impostors, the Chief Minister highlighted ‘Operation Kalnemi’, an initiative intended to curb those misusing Sanatan Dharma for fraudulent means. He stated that resolute action is being taken against such pretenders who tarnish Hindu traditions. In a determined effort to reinforce values amongst the youth, Dhami announced that students in schools will be taught lessons from the Srimad Bhagavad Gita. He also shared that a dedicated Centre for Hindu Studies has been established at Doon University, aimed at deepening academic engagement with the country’s spiritual tradition.

The event was graced by several notable personalities, including Mahant Lalitanand Giri Maharaj, Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Jai Krishna Singh, Haryana State Minister Rajesh Nagar, local MLA Madan Kaushik, Roorkee Mayor Anita Devi, State Minister Shobharam Prajapati, DM Mayur Dixit, SSP Pramendra Singh Dobhal, HRDA Vice Chairman Anshul Singh and others, all of whom gathered to pay tribute to the distinguished legacy of Satguru Lal Das Maharaj.
