Dehradun, 4 Aug: Continuous heavy rainfall in the past 24 hours has disrupted routine life across Dehradun district, with widespread waterlogging reported from various urban pockets. Responding promptly to reports of water accumulation at key intersections including Mata Mandir Road Tiraaha, Prince Chowk, Jogiwala Lane No 4, and ITBP Road, the district administration activated its Quick Response Teams to address the situation. The district administration has claimed that quick relief and resolution was ensured for the waterlogging complaints received from various parts of Dehradun.

Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) KK Mishra shared that Nagar Nigam officials promptly drained water from Mata Mandir Road Tiraha, while high-pressure de-watering pumps deployed by the Smart City initiative were instrumental in clearing water from Prince Chowk and Jogiwala. On GMS Road, spanning from Hotel Sunpark to ITBP Road, the irrigation department operated a de-watering pump to ease the inundation.

It may be recalled that, in order to improve the drainage infrastructure, the district administration has recently installed dewatering pumps at strategic urban locations including Ballupur Chowk, Panditwari, Seemadwar, Cantt Area, Prince Chowk, IT Park, Sahastradhara Road, Six Number Pulia, Rishpana, Catchment, Adhoiwala, Kanwali Road, Chandrabani, ISBT, Bengali Kothi, Banjarawala, and Arcadia Grant. According to the district administration, these installations have proved effective in rapidly draining rainwater and mitigating the impact of heavy precipitation, thereby facilitating a quicker return to normalcy across affected regions.
