Dehradun, 19 Sep: The first meeting of the State-Level Steering Committee was held at the Secretariat here today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. On the occasion, the CM undertook a comprehensive review of the progress of various ambitious schemes of both the State and Central Governments. The review covered various schemes and projects related to agriculture, rural development, urban development, health, education, women and child welfare, employment, social security, digital technology, environment, and sports.
On this occasion, the CM directed the officials to expedite the implementation of these schemes so that the maximum number of beneficiaries are reached at the earliest. He also emphasised that transparency, accountability and interdepartmental coordination are indispensable for effective execution. Dhami also claimed that Uttarakhand is taking decisive steps to position itself among the leading states of the country and that any laxity in this endeavour would not be tolerated.
Emphasising the role of technology in governance, the CM called for the optimum use of modern digital tools to monitor and manage schemes effectively. He said that timely access to information and enhanced accountability would accelerate implementation. He further highlighted the need for coordinated efforts across departments to ensure that farmers, the underprivileged, women and youth receive the intended benefits.
While reviewing the agriculture and the energy departments, Dhami instructed the officials to speed up the installation of solar-powered pumps under the Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana. He observed that this initiative would provide farmers with accessible irrigation facilities while promoting long-term energy self-reliance through solar power and would also contribute to environmental conservation.
The CM further directed that remaining villages should be quickly connected with road infrastructure under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. He remarked that road connectivity is the foundation of regional progress and is vital for improving basic amenities and expanding economic opportunities in the state’s remote areas.
The CM also reviewed the schemes related to health, education and employment generation. He reiterated that quality education and health services are top priorities for the State Government. He further instructed the officials to implement youth and women-oriented skill development, self-employment and entrepreneurship schemes more effectively, with the aim of improving the living standards of every citizen.
The CM further noted that the success of these initiatives depends not only on administrative efficiency but also on active involvement of elected representatives and local communities. He urged the officials to remain in regular dialogue with public representatives, provide updates on progress and ensure that citizens derive maximum benefit. He affirmed that the Government’s foremost priority is the welfare and convenience of the people and directed all the departments to work with full responsibility and commitment towards this goal.
Among those present at the meeting included Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi, Rajya Sabha MPs Naresh Bansal and Kalpana Saini, MLAs Sahdev Singh Pundir, Renu Bisht, Suresh Gadhia, Shaktilal Shah, Harish Dhami and Manoj Tiwari. Senior officials present included Principal Secretary L Fanai, Special Principal Secretary Amit Sinha, Secretaries Radhika Jha, Nitesh Jha, BVRC Purushottam, SN Pandey, Dr R Rajesh Kumar, Dheeraj Garbyal, Sridhar Babu Addanki, Yugal Kishore Pant and Ranveer Singh Chauhan, along with heads of various departments concerned.
