Dhan Singh urges Dharmendra Pradhan to order filling up of vacancies at Garhwal Varsity

New Delhi, 6 Feb: Education Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat called on Union Education and Skill Development Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in New Delhi today. During the meeting, Rawat had a detailed discussion with the Union Education Minister regarding the appointment of a permanent Registrar in the Central Garhwal University, Srinagar, and also regarding various problems of its employees.

In addition, Rawat also demanded sanction of funds for the construction works of Phase-2 of NIT Srinagar Garhwal and posting of a permanent Registrar in NIT as well.

Rawat urged the Union Education Minister to post a permanent Registrar in Central Garhwal University Srinagar, and also to order filling up of posts of faculty which had been lying vacant for some time. He also discussed some pressing problems of non-teaching staff of the central university. During the meeting, Rawat also placed before the Union Minister the demand for early release of funds for the second phase of NIT Srinagar to start the construction work on NIT in Sumadi (Pauri District).

Rawat later informed the media that the Union Minister had assured him of resolving the problems.

During his stay in New Delhi, Rawat later also visited the Vidya Samiksha Kendra of NCERT, New Delhi, and sought information related to its operation and monitoring. He also discussed with the officials of NCERT about the role of Vidya Samiksha Kendra towards improving the education system and quality of education.

Rawat said that in Uttarakhand, also, the Union Government had given approval to set up an education review centre and that the work had already begun. A team of departmental officers had also studied the education review centres of Gujarat and Kerala.

During Rawat’s meeting with Pradhan, BJP State President Mahendra Bhatt and former Pauri MLA Mukesh Koli were also present.
