Dehradun, 18 Apr: The first match was played between The Asian School (TAS) and Doon International School (DIS), today, in the Col Shashi Memorial Cricket Tournament for Under-14, affiliated to the ‘Schools’ Cricket Federation of India’.
TAS won the toss and opted to bat first. Viplav and Abhidhya opened the innings. Both were quite comfortable and scoring at a normal pace when Shivansh forced Viplav to mistime a shot and was caught by Shivam on his individual score of 14 runs. Abhidhya carried on with his strokes. He made 31 in 20 balls, hitting six fours. Other batsmen were more of a procession except Sarthak, who made 10. Twelve runs were given as extras by Doon International. Finally, the Asian batsmen made 86 runs in their allotted 15 overs. Shivansh took two wickets for 18, Sujit also had two for 14, while Shivashish took one wicket for 14 runs and four batsmen were run out.
Chasing a modest total, Doon International batsmen started confidently. Shivam was fluent in his drives. There was an opening wicket partnership of 36 runs, which were made in 5.4overs. Shivashish was bowled for 6 runs, which he made in 15 balls. The bulk of the runs were made by Shivam, who was unbeaten on 54 which he made in 31 balls, hitting 8 fours. Aadit made 9 while Priyashu made 11 and 8 were contributed as extras. Doon International met the target in 14.3 overs. Abhidhya took two wickets while Viplav took one.
Doon International won the match by 7wickets.
The 2nd Match was played between St Thomas’ College (STC) and Fly Fot Public School (FPS). Fly Fot won the toss and opted to field first. Aryan and Priyanshu opened the innings. Both the batsmen were uncomfortable against the accurate bowling of Sachin and Raj. The first wicket went down when the score was just 9 runs on the board. Later, it was more of a procession by the batsmen. St Thomas’ was all out for 45 in 10.2 overs, with 16 runs given as extras. Nobody could reach the double figure. Sachin took 3 for seven; Anshul also had 3 for 9, while Rahul and Vikas took one wicket, each.
Fly Fot batsmen Kailash and Ashutosh opened the innings. Kailash was bowled early. He made just 2 runs. Vashutosh made 19 in 22 balls. Vikas and Anshul remained unbeaten on 12 and 1, respectively. Fly Fot met the target in just 7 overs. Aryan of St Thomas’ College was the only wicket taker who bagged two for 17.
