Dehradun, 5 Jun: Following directions from Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the district administration led by District Magistrate Dr Ashish Chauhan has launched intensive relief, rehabilitation and protection operations in the disaster‑affected Karligaad and Sahastradhara areas. In compliance with the CM’s instructions, machinery, manpower and other resources have been substantially augmented to ensure the safety of affected families and expedite debris removal.

As per the officials of Dehradun district administration, all the departments concerned are working in a coordinated manner and are committed to completing relief, rehabilitation and protection works within stipulated timeframes. The administration is maintaining continuous oversight of the area and ensuring necessary action at every level to provide a secure environment for residents and to minimise losses from any future such events.

In keeping with the Chief Minister’s sensitivity and commitment, DM Chauhan today conducted an on‑site inspection of Karligaad with Cabinet Minister and local MLA Ganesh Joshi to review progress on rehabilitation and debris‑removal works. During the inspection, departments were directed to accelerate operations and ensure all necessary arrangements are completed within the prescribed timelines.

The review examined removal of the large volumes of debris accumulated in the area as a result of the disaster. The cabinet minister instructed officials to clear the entire debris in Karligaad within the next 15 days and to carry out scientific channelisation of the material to guard against future damage. Officials were also directed to prepare and initiate proposals swiftly for the safe and permanent rehabilitation of affected families.

Chauhan said families living in high‑risk zones should be relocated to safe locations as a priority to reduce the likelihood of loss of life or property in any future incidents. He directed all concerned departments to work in a coordinated manner to complete rehabilitation works within 15 days.

To hasten debris removal, the mining department has deployed two additional Poclain excavators and JCBs, and the number of dumpers has been increased to seven. The irrigation department has also deployed two additional Poclain machines for river channelisation, resulting in a marked acceleration of debris clearance and river‑flow management activities.

Prior to the Chief Minister’s directive to scale up resources, the district administration had already deployed two Poclain machines, JCBs and dumpers in Karligaad and Sahastradhara to carry out relief and rehabilitation operations. In accordance with the Chief Minister’s instructions to augment machinery and manpower, the district administration has now further increased resources and commenced intensified debris‑removal and river‑channelisation work.
