Dehradun, 7 Aug: Kiran Devi, a resident of Ogal Bhatta, finally received relief after a prolonged struggle of over a year to get her land mutation completed. On 1 August, she had approached the office of District Magistrate Savin Bansal, narrating her ordeal and seeking urgent intervention. She had explained that her husband, a paramilitary jawan, had purchased a plot of land measuring 0.00082 hectares in Sishambara in Dehradun in June 2024. Despite repeated visits to lawyers and government offices, the mutation had not been carried out in her name. She alleged that her legal counsel and a Punjab National Bank agent had been misleading her and failed to provide any clear answers regarding the status of the mutation. She had expressed to the District Magistrate that he was her last hope, having exhausted all other avenues without success.

Taking immediate and a serious note of the matter, the DM directed the Tehsildar of Vikasnagar to submit an updated report on the same day. Acting promptly on the DM’s instructions and after assessing the situation, the tehsil office issued the mutation order within three days, thereby registering the land in Kiran Devi’s name.

It may be reminded here that DM Savin Bansal has been consistently taking pro-people decisions, with a particular focus on ensuring that uncontested inheritance and mutation cases are resolved within the stipulated time frame. His swift action in this case has brought timely justice to a citizen who had been caught in bureaucratic delays, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to responsive governance.
