Dehradun, 27 Jul: District Magistrate Ashish Chauhan today reiterated that any kind of negligence in resolving public grievances will not be tolerated. At the Samadhan Diwas held today, he heard 164 complaints and directed the departmental officers to ensure timely, transparent and sensitive disposal of the complaints. The DM directed all the departments concerned to act with full accountability and warned that delays or lapses at any level would be unacceptable.
The complaints presented at the Collectorate ranged from land fraud, illegal encroachments and demarcation disputes to requests for socio-economic assistance and compensation for property damage caused by monsoon rains. Among the complainants was Vinita from Rishikesh, who shared her distress over her family’s financial ruin due to her son’s addiction to online gaming and sought assistance. Junatara Devi from Paltan Bazaar appealed for help with medical treatment and her daughter’s school fees, while widow Archana requested financial support for her daughters’ education.
Elderly Rajpal Singh accused his son of assault and harassment with the intent of grabbing property. The DM directed the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) to immediately register a case under the Maintenance Act. In response to the complaint of an elderly widow from Mannuganj, the City Circle Officer (CO) was directed to take swift action. On the complaint of Vinita Bhateja from Saharanpur regarding illegal occupation of ancestral property on Rajpur Road, the Mussoorie CO was instructed to act on the spot without delay.
Chauhan also issued immediate directions on the matters related to public utilities, encroachments and safety. In Singniwala village, where a neighbour’s objection had prevented a power connection, and in Manuwa village, where a rain-damaged electric pole had become hazardous, the Energy Corporation was ordered to act promptly. In Siddhowala, complaints of outsiders occupying government land and in Badamwala, encroachment on river-category land altering village demographics, were referred to the SDM Vikasnagar for detailed investigation.
In respect of one complaint, the Divisional Transport Officer was directed by the DM to take strict measures against overloading of vehicles in the Doctorganj area of Vikasnagar. At Dhoran Road near Central Park Residency, where the builder had failed to construct a protective embankment, action was directed against the builder and the Irrigation Department was directed to prepare a proposal for protective works. In Chakrata’s Deriyon Gram Panchayat, approval was given for CC road construction, while the SLAO was directed to expedite land allocation agreements in lieu of acquired land for the Rishikesh bypass road.
Among the officials present on the occasion of Samadhan Diwas were Chief Development Officer (CDO) Abhinav Shah, ADM (Revenue) KK Mishra, District Development Officer (DDO) Sunil Kumar, Tehsildar Vivek Rajouri, Tehsildar Surendra Dev and other district-level officers from various departments.
