Doon Police seize 720 kg fake paneer; factory busted in Saharanpur

Dehradun, 29 Apr: The Police have seized 720 kg of fake paneer from a shop in Raipur area on Tuesday. Two accused were arrested who brought fake paneer to Dehradun. They told the police that the paneer was made in a Saharanpur factory. This fake paneer was meant to be supplied during the Char Dham Yatra, police said. The Food Safety Department raided the Saharanpur factory and found 16 quintals of fake paneer. The factory was sealed.

According to the police, they received secret information that a large amount of fake paneer was being sent from Saharanpur to Dehradun. After getting the information, a joint team of Raipur Police and SOG raided a shop in Upper Ishwar Vihar. There, they found the fake paneer being unloaded from a pickup van. The team recovered around 6 quintals of fake paneer from the godown and 1 quintal 20 kg from the vehicle. The police called the food safety department on the spot. After testing, they confirmed the paneer was fake.

The police have arrested two accused – Abdul Mannan, the shop owner, and Arif, the van driver. During questioning, the arrested men told the police that the fake paneer was made in a factory in Saharanpur. Three people named Manoj, Narendra, and Shahrukh were running this factory in a forested area of Kasampur, Saharanpur.

After this, the Dehradun SSP informed the Food Safety Department of Saharanpur. A team raided the factory and found 16 quintals of fake paneer, along with chemicals and equipment. The factory was sealed, and all fake paneer was destroyed. The police have registered a case against all five accused. Two have been arrested, and the search is on for the remaining three.
