Dehradun, 18 Oct: With the beginning of the festive season, EIL Dehradun Chapter celebrated Dussehra and World Peace Day on 15 October in the premises of Summer Valley School, here. The members, starved of any such activities for the last several months, participated enthusiastically.
Shalini Dhanda welcomed the members and the guests. A short film on World Peace Day followed. The EIL members pledged to work towards strengthening peace and harmony in society. The Dusshera celebration took place in the sprawling grounds of the school.
“Kudos to the energetic Chairperson, Shalini Dhanda, VC Ashok Wasu, and Secretary Anju Dawar, along with their devoted team of executives, for organising the programme. A salute to the sponsors and the decorators for their generous effort,” said former chairperson and senior member, Pixie Sadana.
The excitement of meeting everyone after such a long time was writ large on the faces of all present. The programme was meticulously planned. The décor, the ambience and the food stalls were appreciated by all present. Added attractions were the games stalls which saw active participation of all – the young and the young at heart. Special stalls were set up by Samarpan Ek Kala and Parkshala, NGOs that help underprivileged children, from where members bought candles and other Diwali gift items at very reasonable rates. There were ten lucky draw winners and two ladies who won the cakes by guessing the ‘Weight of the Cake’ correctly.
