Dehradun, 23 Sep: To commemorate sixty glorious years of service to the Nation, the Engineer Regiment of Golden Key Division of the Indian Army flagged off a White Water Rafting Expedition from Rudraprayag to Rishikesh on 22 September in a ceremonial event held at Clement Town, here. The expedition will commence on 26 September from Rudraprayag and culminate on 30 September at Rishikesh.

The expedition was flagged off by Major General Naveen Mahajan, General Officer Commanding, Golden Key Division. A team comprising 15 spirited Sappers of Engineer Regiment of Golden Key Division has set out to navigate the formidable rapids of the Ganga, symbolising the Regiment’s enduring legacy of adventure, resilience and teamwork.

Over the course of the expedition, the participants will negotiate challenging stretches of the river, braving swift currents and turbulent waters while carrying forward the ethos of discipline, innovation and courage that defines the Sapper spirit. The journey is a tribute to the Regiment’s unparalleled contribution in combat engineering, disaster relief, and nation-building tasks across diverse and difficult terrains.

The initiative highlights the Regiment’s longstanding tradition of adventure sports and its role in fostering camaraderie, leadership, and mental robustness. It also seeks to inspire the youth to imbibe the values of service, unity, and perseverance, which have been the hallmark of the Engineer fraternity.

The Diamond Jubilee White Water Rafting Expedition not only celebrates the Regiment’s glorious past but also reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the sovereignty and security of the Nation.
