Dehradun, 15 July: Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) met ex-servicemen of the Assam Regiment at the Raj Bhavan, here, on Monday. The Governor too has served in the Assam Regiment.
He shared his experiences in service with the ex-servicemen. The Governor said that one learns how to live in mutual coordination in the army. He expressed gratitude for what has been learned from each other during the service.
At the meeting, experiences in the army and the challenges to come were discussed. The Governor said that Uttarakhand is a military inclined, with a special spirit of bravery. The Agnipath scheme was also discussed.
Lt Gen Singh claimed that the training and ability of warriors coming in the form of Agniveers is of high standard. The scheme will increase the youthful profile in our armed forces. The Governor said that he had spoken to the commanders who train the Agnivirs, and was told that the level of training, mutual competition and the spirit of nation first is of a high level. He visited the training centre and talked to the Agniveers. They have the spirit of nation first and the passion to do something for the security of the country.
