Constitution Day Celebrated at Raj Bhavan

Dehradun, 26 Nov: Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) administered an oath to all officials and employees of Raj Bhavan on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Constitution Day here, today, affirming the duties and responsibilities enshrined in the Constitution. On this occasion, the Governor also read the Preamble of the Constitution. On this day, in 1949, the people of India adopted the Constitution of India.
Paying homage to Dr BR Ambedkar and all the framers of the Constitution, the Governor stated that the Constitution is the soul of Indian democracy and the source of its powers. The Governor emphasised that the Constitution of Independent India was made possible by the tireless efforts and vast thoughts of many great thinkers of the country, forming a strong and welfare-oriented framework.
The Governor further remarked that Constitution Day serves as a reminder of the true ideals, strong principles, and sacred duties enshrined in the Constitution. He pointed out that the Constitution is the longest in the world and serves as a beacon for the nation. In its light, citizens are working towards building India’s golden future.
On this occasion, the Governor stressed the need to remain fully aware of the duties mentioned in Article 51A of the Constitution. He urged that every citizen to be mindful of these fundamental duties and act accordingly. He highlighted that to preserve the spirit of the framers of the Constitution, it is essential to integrate the Constitution’s values and its fundamental duties into daily lives.
Present on this occasion were Secretary to the Governor, Ravinath Raman, Legal Advisor to the Governor, Amit Kumar Sirohi, Additional Secretary to the Governor, Swati S Bhadoria, Finance Controller Dr Tripti Srivastava, and Joint Director, Information, Dr Nitin Upadhyay, along with Raj Bhavan officials and staff.
