Experts discuss Climate Change at Graphic Era

Dehradun, 21 Oct: Experts today discussed Climate Change at a workshop organised today at Graphic Era Deemed University.

Head of Centre for Sustainability and Climate Change, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Prof Anubha Kaushik spoke on sustainable practices and strategies. She told the youth that sustainability should not be an option but a pledge so that the environment can be saved from damage. The increasing population will be a new challenge in the times to come. Due to more population, there will be more misuse of natural resources. She asked the youth to work thinking about all three aspects – environmental, social and economic.

Former Dean of Guru Jambeshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar, Prof CP Kaushik talked about Climate Action and Sustainable Development Goals. He told the youth that climate change is a serious problem. For this it is necessary that new action plans are made. He said that the more mankind destroys the environment, the less opportunities there will be. He gave the example of Covid 19. He said that Corona is living proof that such serious diseases arise due to contamination of the environment. He also highlighted the aspects of saving the environment and global warming through slides.

The programme was organised by the Environmental Studies Department. Pro Chancellor Prof Rakesh Kumar Sharma, HOD Dr Pratibha Naithani, Dr Pradeep Kumar Sharma, Dr Archana Bacheti, Dr Suman Naithani, Dr. Rachin Karmakar and students were among those present. The programme was hosted by Dr Bharti Sharma.
