Fake medicines factory busted in Haridwar district

DEHRADUN, 29 Oct: A factory manufacturing fake medicines and working without pharmaceutical license, was busted during a raid conducted by STF today. This factory was found to be manufacturing fake antibiotics, multi-vitamins and several other medicines under the brand name of a famous pharmaceutical company based in Himachal Pradesh. Large quantity of fake medicines of antibiotics, multi-vitamins and many other types of salts were recovered during the raid. As soon as the owners of this factory came to know of the raid, they fled. The factory is located in Dada Jalalpur in Bhagwanpur.

The team has sealed the machines with the help of which, the fake medicines were being manufactured as well as the factory. The sealing of the factory and the machines inside was carried out in the presence of SDM.

A case has been registered against the accused in Bhagwanpur police station under sections of drug Act and the relevant sections of Indian Penal Code. The raiding team comprised of officials of the Drug Department, Vigilance department and Special Task Force of Uttarakhand Police. The raid was a joint exercise carried out in coordination by various departments.

During the raid, fake medicines worth lakhs of rupees, raw material, machines found to be in running condition for making medicines and for wrappers have been recovered. The machine and the factory have been sealed in the presence of SDM Bhagwanpur, Vaibhav Gupta. The counterfeit medicines were being manufactured under the brand name of Solan Core Healthcare, Himachal.

Medicines in about ten boxes have been recovered and sealed. Along with this, a case has been registered in Bhagwanpur police station under the sections of Drug Act and IPC. Meanwhile, the accused running the factory managed to abscond even as the raid was being conducted. The team includes Drug Inspector Haridwar Anita Bharti, Assistant Drug Controller, Dehradun Headquarters Dr Sadhir Kumar, SI Jagdish Raturi from FDA (Food Supply and Drug Administration Vigilance Wing) of Drug Department, Inspector Sharad Chand and Constable Yogendra Singh from STF Dehradun, Constable Jai Singh, Constable Ravi Pant, Driver Virendra Rawat.
