Feel truly blessed to visit Adi Kailash: Modi

CM Dhami welcomes Prime Minister

Pithoragarh, 12 Oct: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Adi Kailash along the Indo-China border and perfomed puja here today. While worshipping at the Shiva temple, here, the Prime Minister had a grand darshan of Adi Kailash and prayed for the happiness, prosperity and well-being of the country. Prime Minister Modi was given a warm welcome on his arrival at Shiva Dham Adi Kailash by Chief Minister Dhami, his cabinet colleagues, top officials and the general public.

As per his scheduled programme, Prime Minister Modi’s chopper landed at Jeolingkang helipad here at 8.45 a.m. From here, after travelling a distance of about one and a half kilometres by car, he reached Parvati Sarovar and Shiva Temple situated on the top of the Himalayas. Here, he worshiped and meditated on Lord Shiva for about 25 minutes. In the Adi Kailash temple, the Lama priests of the Ran community performed the ‘Mati Puja’ of the famous Shiva-Parvati from ancient times with full rituals.

After this, PM Modi also viewed the Adi Kailash Mountain and the Parvati Sarovar (also called as Parvati Kund). The Prime Minister appeared to be awestruck after seeing Adi Kailash and the Parvati Sarovar. He said that after seeing Adi Kailash, his heart was full of joy and he felt hugely blessed. The Prime Minister observed that Uttarakhand is God’s own land. Here Gods and Goddesses reside in every particle. He felt immense joy after seeing Lord Adi Kailash. He said that the temples of Devbhoomi are the centres of not only the faith but also of the economy. The economy of thousands of people is directly and indirectly linked to these temples. All the temples are being developed as a circuit to promote religious tourism. The Chief Minister briefed the Prime Minister about Adi Kailash and the surrounding area.

Great enthusiasm was seen among the army personnel deployed on the China border as well as among the villagers of Kuti, Nabi, Rongkang, Gunji, Napalchu, Garvyang and Bundi villages situated on the border in view of the PM’s visit. After visiting Adi Kailash, PM Modi left for Gunji from Jeolingkang helipad.

Prime Minister Modi is the first Prime Minister of the country to visit the area. From this area, bordering the international borders of three countries, the Prime Minister also gave the message of spirituality and India’s emerging power in the global arena to the whole world. CM Dhami claimed that with the visit of the Prime Minister, the possibilities of spiritual tourism in Adi Kailash region have increased.

It may be recalled that the Adi Kailash in Pithoragarh district is situated at an altitude of more than 14 thousand feet, adjacent to the border of Tibet and Nepal and is considered to be a very divine place. There is a belief about Adi Kailash that this place is the residence of Lord Shiva’s family. The main attraction on the Adi Kailash route is Om Parvat. The shape of Om is embossed on this mountain. Om Parvat is situated in Navidhanga on the Kailash Yatra route. Om Parvat is also called Chhota Kailash of Adi Kailash.
