Uttarkashi, 17 May: Superintendent of Police, Uttarkashi, Arpan Yaduvanshi today informed media that FIRs had been filed against two persons for forging registration documents for the Char Dham Yatra. This forgery was detected during checking at the registration centre in Heena along the Gangotri Highway, yesterday. While checking the bar code, the registration dates of two passenger buses were found to be fake. There were 88 pilgrims on board both the buses.
The devotees said that they were cheated by 2 tour operators named Tinku and Matu from Haridwar by forging their registration. At the complaint of devotees, two cases have been registered against the tour operators under sections 420/467/468/471 of the Indian Penal at Kotwali, Maneri.
SP Yaduvanshi claimed that Uttarkashi Police is eager to ensure a smooth yatra for the pilgrims to Gangotri and Yamunotri but warned against travelling without due registration or on dates other than the scheduled dates of travel as per the registration documents. Yaduvanshi also appealed to the devotees to register themselves on the official site only and not through any agents and also not to get misled by any fraudster. He claimed that continuous checking is being done at the registration centre. If anyone’s registration is found to be fake, then he or she will not be allowed to travel under any circumstances and will be sent back. Strict action will also be taken against the fraudsters.
