Dehradun, 13 Jan: Former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand and former Union Minister Maj
Gen (Retd) Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri is currently admitted at CMI Hospital. Today he underwent a surgery for brain clot and is now recuperating after the surgery.
Leading neurosurgeon of North India, Dr Mahesh Kuriyal conducted the surgery. Speaking to Garhwal Post, Dr Kuriyal confirmed that the surgery performed by him and his team on Khanduri has been successful and the brain clot has been removed. Dr Kuriyal also confirmed that post his surgery, Khanduri is opening his eyes after regaining consciousness but will remain under observation for sometime.

Dr Kuriyal also asserted that in view of the advance age of the patient and age related various medical complications, performing brain surgery was challenging and a risky proposition but ultimately in the interest of the patient, he chose to undertake the risk.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also spoke to Dr Kuriyal and inquired about the well being of Khanduri.
Khanduri is currently 92 years old. He had been the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand between 2007 and 2012. In between he had been replaced by Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank as CM but was again reinstated by the BJP’s Central elections months before the 2012 assembly elections. Earlier, he was also a Union Minister in Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government and had handled the Surface Transport Ministry, between 1998 and 2004.
