Dehradun, 22 Jan: Vice Chancellor of Sridev Suman Uttarakhand University, Prof NK Joshi, presented the progress of research work being carried out under the “One University-One Research” scheme before the Governor, Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd), here, today. The research being conducted by the University focuses on “Indian Ancient Knowledge Tradition in the Modern Context”.
During the presentation, the Vice Chancellor explained that the research paper is divided into seven sections: Ancient Science & Mathematics, History, Culture & Political Thought, Ayurveda & Yoga, Economics & Management, Environment, Philosophy & Educational Thought, and Multidisciplinary Studies. The aim of the research is to establish a bridge between ancient knowledge and modern science and technology, while also restoring the rich knowledge in the modern context and preserving the wisdom embedded in the ancient scriptures. He elaborated in detail on the research work contained in each section.
The Governor praised the research efforts of the university, noting that ancient knowledge is an invaluable heritage, though its significance and utility are not well known to many. He stated that this research is a significant step towards establishing various fields of ancient Indian knowledge, such as science, mathematics, Ayurveda, yoga, astronomy, and politics, as a global heritage. These branches of knowledge not only enriched Indian culture but have also proven to be globally relevant.
The Governor emphasised the need to preserve this rich knowledge and integrate it into global development, cultural empowerment, and scientific research. He remarked that every Indian should be aware of this ancient knowledge heritage. The conclusions drawn from this research would help in the promotion of Indian knowledge traditions. The Governor congratulated the research team for their excellent work and wished them success.
On this occasion, Additional Secretary Swati S Bhadauria, Prof Kalpana Pant, and Joint Director, Information, Dr Nitin Upadhyay were also present.
