Gov chairs meeting of Child Welfare Council

Dehradun, 22 Apr: Governor Baby Rani Maurya chaired the 14th Annual General Meeting of the Uttarakhand State Council for Child Welfare on Monday at the Raj Bhawan, here, today. The meeting was organised after two years. Stressing on holding regular meetings of the Council, the Governor gave directions that it be held every quarter.
She said that special attention ought to be given to the children affected by natural disaster, orphans and the poor studying in government schools. Expressing concern over the weak financial condition of the State Council for Child Welfare, she ordered that efforts be made to improve it. She said that the council should not merely depend on government grants. She asked for an action plan to arrange finances.
A committee headed by former Education Director Chandra Singh Gwal was constituted to prepare the plan. The Governor appealed all the members to contribute actively to the functioning of the Council. She ordered setting up of an online payment system and to keep it updated. Asha Shrivasta was elected the new Treasurer during the meeting.
Secretary to the Governor, Ramesh Kumar Sudhanshu, legal adviser Kahkashan Khan, senior vice chairman Dr IS Pal were present at the meeting.
