Dehradun, 10 Jul: Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) held discussions on Friday at Lok Bhavan with members of the Bharat Himalayan International Strategic Forum (BHISHM) think tank. The meeting was attended by former Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, along with other senior retired military officers and subject-matter experts. The participants held meaningful deliberations on contemporary issues related to the national and global security landscape.

During the discussion, extensive deliberations took place on key issues concerning national security, strategic challenges, border management, and the evolving global security environment. Senior retired military officers and subject-matter experts from the think tank shared their perspectives and recommendations, drawing on their extensive experience and in-depth research, on further strengthening India’s national security.
The Governor said that dialogue with experts on such an important subject as national security is highly valuable, as it helps broaden policy perspectives. Appreciating the experience and expertise of the think tank members, he said that such discussions play an important role in further strengthening the country’s security preparedness.
Those present on the occasion included Lieutenant General Ajay Kumar Singh (Retd), Vice Admiral AG Thapliyal (Retd), Major General Abhay Karki (Retd), Brigadier Santosh Nair (Retd), Brigadier Anil Sharma (Retd), Air Vice Marshal Arvind Verma (Retd), Colonel RS Sidhu (Retd), Commodore J Gurumani, Joint Chief Hydrographer at the National Hydrographic Office, Dr Sanjeev Chopra, Prof Durgesh Pant, Amanpreet Singh, Dr Rajya Lakshmi, and Ravi Gadiraju.
