Gov pays tribute to Nityanand Swami, recalls his contribution to society

Dehradun, 27 Dec: On the occasion of the birth anniversary of the former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, late Nityanand Swami, a program was held today at the Raj Bhawan, here. Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) participated and paid tributes to Nityanand Swami, recalling his invaluable contributions. On this occasion, the Governor, on behalf of the Shri Nityanand Swami Janseva Samiti, felicitated Cabinet Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat with the “Shri Nityanand Swami Swachh Rajneta Samman” (Clean Politician Award).
The Governor also honored the following distinguished individuals with various awards from the Samiti: Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman to renowned TV director Bharat Kukreti and environmentalist Vimala Bahuguna; Sanskritik Sampada Alankar to Uttarakhandi folk singer Kamla Devi; Udyog Alankar to CEO of Century Pulp and Paper Ajay Gupta; Chikitsa Seva Alankar to Director of Medical Education, Uttarakhand, Dr Ashutosh Sayana; Paryavaran Alankar to environmentalist Prabha Devi; Shikshavid Alankar to renowned writer and Vedic scholar Dr Krishan Kant; and Paryatan Alankar to Chief Operator, Mohana House, Chakrata, Jaipal Singh Chauhan.
Lt Gen Singh mentioned that Nityanand Swami was a true public servant and an honest politician who made politics a medium for public welfare and service. His life and philosophy embodied the principle of “Antyodaya”, focusing on bringing development and justice to the most marginalized in society.
He further stated that Swami was a compassionate, multi-talented, and eloquent personality. His simplicity and patience were his strengths, and he elevated development through clean politics and integrity. He urged everyone to adopt ethical values and transparency, emphasizing that honest work done with dedication can lead society and the nation toward progress.
During the event, Cabinet Ministers Ganesh Joshi, Prem Chand Aggarwal, former Chief Minister and MP Trivendra Singh Rawat, MP Naresh Bansal, and others shared their thoughts. The event was also attended by MLA Munna Singh Chauhan, educator NL Gupta, Samiti President Dr RK Bakshi, Vice-President Jyotsna Sharma, Secretary Rahul Agarwal, Patron Dr S Farooq, President of Youth Organization “Jay” Vinayak Sharma Swami, Vice-President “Jay” Prerna Gulati, Secretary “Jay” Pragya, and many other dignitaries.
