Dehradun, 23 Sep: Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) released the book, “Amare Jaunsari Geet”, by folk artist Dr Nandlal Bharti, at the Raj Bhavan here on Tuesday.

In this book, Dr Bharti has compiled Jaunsari folk songs based on his 40 years of experience. Through these songs, he has attempted to bring before the people the characteristics, virtues, and social concerns connected with society. The songs also include references to the glory of the presiding Deity Mahasu Devta and various regional development schemes.

On this occasion, the Governor said that the culture of the Jaunsar tribal region is extremely rich, vibrant, and unique. This community remains deeply connected to its traditions, roots, and cultural values, which is exemplary for all.

The Governor expressed happiness that Dr Nandlal Bharti, through his writings, has worked to pass on the culture and songs of Jaunsar to future generations. Jaunsari songs, he said, connect us deeply with our history, traditions, and folk life.

The Governor further stated that it is the need of the hour to connect today’s generation with their culture and traditions. Only when future generations understand their roots and culture will they move forward with confidence.
