Cong stages protest in Doon

By Our Staff Reporter

Dehradun, 6 Feb:  Congress leaders today staged a nationwide district level protest against the ‘silence of PM Modi’ on the Gautam Adani ‘scam’. In Dehradun, the protest was led by PCC Chief Karan Mahra and it was held outside the main branch of the State Bank of India. Led by Mahra, Congress leaders raised slogans targeted at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Former PCC Presidents Pritam Singh and Ganesh Godiyal were also present on the occasion.

Addressing party workers outside the SBI main branch, Karan Mahra claimed that, despite the developments in the wake of the Hindenburg report, the Government of India had chosen to remain silent. The money of the poor people had been lost but the Finance Minister was claiming that this would not affect the economy of the country. He stated that this was a scam of a magnitude of Rs 10 lakh crores. Money of various banks was involved in the scam. LIC’s investment had also been lost in the scam but the government was maintaining a deliberate silence. Mahra added that his leader, Rahul Gandhi, had predicted this and whatever he had apprehended in the past was turning out to be true. The entire scam had taken place under the patronage of the government, he alleged, and the involvement of various ministers was very evident behind every loan secured by the Adani Group.

Mahra claimed that the Congress party had been demanding from the beginning that this new scam be investigated by an independent agency and had sought that this mega scam be investigated by constituting a JPC (Joint Parliamentary Committee).

On this occasion, former President Pritam Singh said that people’s money was being lost. The hollowness of the slogans of Achhe Din had now been exposed. Singh said that the people of this country would have to unite and come out of their homes and raise the flag against dishonesty and corruption

Former PCC Chief Ganesh Godiyal also claimed it was a matter of great surprise that the work which ought to have been carried out by SEBI or CBI and ED had been done by an American organisation, Hindenburg. The hard earned money of the people of the country had been openly looted. Lakhs of crores of hard earned money of the people had drowned but the government was trying to save Adani. Even the RSS was glorifying the Adani Group.

State Vice President, Organisation, Mathuradatt Joshi, General Secretary, Organisation, Vijay Saraswat, Senior Vice President SK Dhasmana, Treasurer Aryendra Sharma, Mahila Congress President Jyoti Rautela, State NSUI President Vikas Negi, Congress Mahanagar President Dr Jaswinder Gogi, Chief Spokesperson Garima Mahra Dasauni, Godavari Thapli, Puran Rawat, Mahendra Negi, Vikas Negi, Manish Nagpal, Amarjeet Singh, Naveen Joshi, Darshan Lal, Sheeshpal Bisht and Lalchand Sharma were among those present on the occasion.
