Dehradun, 27 Apr: Chief technical officer of Food safety and standards authority of India (FSSAI), Surendra Singh Raghav while speaking at the National conference shared the information on the working standards of FSSAI. He said that FSSAI along with maintaining food standards also checks the quality of food products available in the market. This is done so that health and food safety of common man is not compromised. He further emphasized on the importance of registration of food products for selling purpose.
Chancellor Graphic Era deemed University, Prof Dr R C Joshi laid stress on the techniques of food processing and congratulated the department of Biotechnology for organising such interactive and informative session.
Scientist NDRI, Dr Sangeeta Ganguly said that in times of increasing health diseases it is important to conduct research in the field of functional food. She further said that functional food not only provides nutritional value but also offers medicinal value. She shared her knowledge among students regarding pro biotic culture and ricotta cheese.
Vice chancellor Graphic Era deemed University, Dr Rakesh Kumar Sharma congratulated the organising team for their efforts and bringing such importance topic under discussion.
The national conference also saw poster making competition where first place was bagged by Mohammad Ishfaq of GB Pant university, Aksha Rani came second and Richa Badola of uttarancahl university came third.
Scientists, eminent researchers and students from various Universities participated in the national conference.
