Dehradun, 6 Aug: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Dr BVRC Purushottam addressed a press conference at the Secretariat media centre here, today, and shared detailed information on the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign. He stated that under the current notice phase of the SIR process, out of 24.30 lakh notices, 20.27 lakh have already been served to voters. Between 14 July and 5 August, during the claims and objections phase, 57,000 applications in Form‑6, 22,668 in Form‑7 and 26,145 in Form‑8 have been received over the past 20 days.
The CEO also stated that feedback is being regularly taken from the political parties regarding the SIR, with meetings being held at assembly level by EROs, at district level by DEOs and at state level by the CEO. He informed media that competent officers are conducting continuous field visits to hear the notices and instructions have already been issued to ensure voters do not face inconvenience during hearings. He directed all the district election officers to personally visit the homes of elderly voters above 65 years of age and persons with disabilities to hand over notices, to ensure that they are not compelled to unnecessarily attend booths in cases of discrepancies.
On the occasion, Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr Vijay Kumar Jogdande and Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Mastu Das were also present.
