Dehradun, 22 Sep: A training programme on ‘Processing, value addition and packaging of Spices’ was organised at village Koti Maychak, Raipur block, here, during 15-19 September under an ICAR-NASF Project.
The programme was organised in collaboration with Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Dehradun. Vishal Kumar and Sangeeta from KVIC, Uttarakhand, demonstrated various techniques to process different kinds of spices. The five-day training included lectures and practicals on preparation of various value-added products of spices along with their packing and packaging. The programme was attended by 33 farm women and 5 male farmers of different Self-Help Groups from 8 villages of Raipur block. The trainees took keen interest in learning hands-on techniques for preparation of various value-added products. They are now capable of preparing the products on their own and it will help them to earn additional income. They were also briefed about various standards and localised marketing strategies to do business on sustainable basis.
The five-day Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) was coordinated by Dr Indu Rawat, Sr Scientist, and Dr Abimanyu Jhajhria, Scientist, under the guidance of Dr Bankey Bihari, Principal Scientist and CCPI of the Project. The programme was successful due to the untiring efforts of Anil Malik and Vikash Yadav, SRF of the Project.
